Soft, cosy and calming beds, caves and radiator hammocks for cats who love a warm, safe spot. Cats sleep for much of the day and prefer enclosed or raised places where they feel secure. Pick a snug size — cats like to feel held — and a washable cover for easy cleaning.

Choosing cat beds

Cats choose where they sleep and no bed changes that, so placement matters more than the bed. Somewhere warm, somewhere with a view of the room, somewhere with a wall behind it — and somewhere the household does not walk past constantly. A bed in the wrong spot gets ignored and blamed on the bed.

Enclosed caves and igloos suit nervous cats and cold rooms; open donuts and radiator hammocks suit confident cats who like to keep an eye on things. Most homes end up with more than one, because most cats rotate through several spots as the sun moves.

Common questions

What kind of bed do cats prefer?

Many cats feel safest in enclosed or raised beds — caves, donut beds and window or radiator perches — where they can curl up warm and watch the room. Offer a couple of options and let them choose.

Where should I put my cat's bed?

Somewhere quiet, warm and slightly elevated, away from busy foot traffic and their litter tray. Near a sunny window or radiator is usually a winner.
