Cats sleep high because height is safety, and a cat with no legitimate high spot will invent one on top of the wardrobe or among the books. A hammock gives them a proper elevated bed clipped onto furniture you already own, which is a far cheaper answer than another cat tree in a flat that has no spare floor to give up in the first place.

The fabric is a cotton-linen blend, which breathes rather than trapping heat the way a padded fleece bed does, and that is worth having for a cat who spends summer hunting out cool surfaces. Adjustable carabiner straps clip onto cage bars, crate frames or chair legs, and because each strap adjusts on its own you can level the bed on furniture that is not remotely square.

• Cotton-linen blend fabric
• Adjustable carabiner straps
• Clips onto cages, crates and chair legs
• Five finishes: maple leaves, goose print, grey, yellow and blue
• Wear-resistant printed surface
• Lifts the cat clear of the floor

On measurements: As a general rule a fabric sling like this suits an average adult cat rather than a very large or heavy one, so check your clip points either way.

Who it's for: Cat owners short on floor space who want a cool, breathable perch clipped onto a cage, crate or chair.
