Measure your dog or cat from nose to tail while they are curled up and add a few centimetres: a calming bed should feel snug, because the raised rim only works if they can rest their chin on it. Donut beds with a deep bolster suit pets that curl up tight; cave and hooded beds suit the ones that like to burrow under something. Choose a faux-fur top for winter warmth, and a removable, machine-washable cover so the bed stays fresh.
