Why calming beds work

Calming beds borrow from the way dogs and cats naturally sleep — curled up, backed into something solid, with their chin supported. The raised bolster gives them that point of contact, while deep, soft filling takes the pressure off joints.

For pets that pace, whine at night or struggle to switch off after a busy day, a proper nest can make a real difference to how quickly they relax.

Choosing the right size

Measure your pet nose-to-tail while they’re curled up, then add a few centimetres. A bed that’s slightly snug feels more secure than one that’s too big.

Faux-fur tops are cosy for winter; if your pet runs warm, look for a removable, machine-washable cover so you can keep it fresh.

Washing, and how many beds a household needs

Buy the removable, machine-washable cover. Every bed eventually needs washing, and the ones that cannot be washed are the ones that get thrown away.

If you have more than one pet you need more beds than pets, and in different places. Sharing is not the default, and forcing it is a common cause of the tension that comes out as scrapping or as one animal never settling at all.

Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.

Common questions

Do calming beds really help with anxiety?

Many owners find a snug, bolstered bed helps a nervous pet settle faster, because it mimics how they’d naturally den. It’s a comfort aid, not a cure — for ongoing anxiety, speak to your vet.

Are they machine washable?

Most of our calming beds have a washable cover or can be machine washed whole on a gentle cycle. Check the individual product page for care details.

What size should I get?

Measure your pet curled up and add a few centimetres. When in doubt, size up slightly so they can turn around comfortably.
