A pet that curls up rather than stretches out is usually looking for something to lean against as much as somewhere soft to lie, which is the whole idea behind a raised-side donut bed over a flat cushion.

Ancol's Small Bite Teddy Donut Bed is made with ultra-soft, scent-absorbing sherpa fleece, in a 70cm donut shape with supportive, wrap-around raised sides. Ancol say the fleece helps reduce anxiety by retaining familiar, comforting smells, while the raised sides encourage a pet to curl up feeling secure and protected. The exterior has the same teddy-bear fleece finish as the rest of the range, with a deeply padded centre.

What isn't confirmed. No specific breed weight guidance or washing instructions are given for this bed, so it's worth erring on the side of a smaller pet given the "Small Bite" naming, and checking the care label once it arrives before a first wash.

Who it's for: owners of small dogs, puppies or cats who like to curl up rather than stretch flat, and who want a bed offering some sense of enclosure around them as they settle.
