A cat that hides to sleep isn't being unfriendly, it's doing what a den animal does when it wants to switch off completely — walls on three sides and no view of the room. An open cushion doesn't offer that; an enclosed shape does.

This bed is built around that shape: a sherpa fleece outer that's meant to hold the cat's own scent, wrapped around a soft, supportive inner cushion filled with recycled fibre, in a cave form rather than a flat pad. It measures 45 x 40cm.

On sizing. 45 x 40cm is one size only — there's no larger version in this line on the card we have, so it suits a cat or a genuinely small dog rather than anything mid-sized. The makers don't give an entrance width, so we can't say how easily a nervous cat's shoulders will fit through it.

Who it's for: a cat, or a small dog, that already seeks out enclosed spaces to sleep — under furniture, in boxes, behind curtains — and would use a proper bed built the same way.
