Height changes how a cat feels about a room. From up on a shelf they can see the doorway, the garden and whatever the dog is doing, and a cat who can see all three at once is a calmer animal than one down at floor level guessing. This perch fixes to the window and gives them that vantage point in a house where every other surface is already spoken for.

It is a flat shelf rather than a sling, so a cat can stretch out full length, sit upright to watch a bird, or turn around without the whole thing swaying underneath them, which suits older and heavier cats considerably better than a hammock does. A breathable mesh cushion sits on top for comfort and airflow in the sun. Strong suction cups hold it to the glass, and the whole thing lifts away when you want the window back.

• Flat shelf design that lets a cat stretch out or sit up
• Breathable mesh cushion
• Fixes to glass with suction cups
• Lifts off when the window is needed
• Available with one pair or two pairs
• Keeps floor space clear

Two things worth knowing. And as with anything suction-mounted, it needs clean, smooth, dry glass, a firm press on every cup, and a weekly check afterwards.

Who it's for: cats who want to sunbathe and watch the street, in homes where the floor space has run out.
