Vertical space is what most indoor cats are short of, and a windowsill in a British house is rarely deep enough for a cat to lie along properly. Hanging a hammock on the glass itself creates a full-length perch where there was none, in the warmest and most interesting spot in the room, without surrendering a single square inch of floor to another piece of cat furniture.

It hangs from suction cups on support wires, which spread the cat's weight across the frame of the hammock rather than letting it sag into a hollow, so the bed stays taut enough to sleep on properly instead of something to fall into. When it is not wanted it comes off the glass and folds flat, so this is not furniture you have to live with all year, which counts in a rented flat or a small room.

• Hangs on a window from suction cups
• Support wires hold the bed in shape
• Uses window space instead of floor space
• Folds flat when it is not in use
• Available in pink, black, khaki or blue
• Gives indoor cats a sunny lookout

Suction cups are only as good as the glass and your routine. They hold on clean, smooth panes and let go on dusty ones, textured glass or painted frames. Clean both faces before fitting, press each cup down hard, and press them again weekly. Do not fit one high above a hard floor, and stay in the room the first few times a heavier cat uses it.

Who it's for: Indoor cats in small homes who want a sunny lookout, and owners with no floor space to give up.
