Details
A cat who keeps sleeping in cardboard boxes is telling you something quite specific: they want walls on three sides and one opening they can face. A canvas dome does the same job the box does and survives longer than a fortnight of it. Because it is semi-enclosed rather than sealed, the cat gets the sheltered feeling without losing sight of the room.
It measures 75cm wide by 66cm deep and 50cm high, built from canvas over a glass fibre rod frame with a velvet cloth lining and hemp rope trim. The rods are what keep the roof up: a fabric tent without a frame folds onto the cat the first time they lean on a wall, and that is the reason most of them get abandoned. Three versions are listed, with a thick mat, a thick pad, or no pad at all, and the weight ranges from 1.2kg to 2.65kg depending on which you take. A pom-pom hangs at the entrance for a swipe before they settle.
