Cats find the warmest available surface and lie on it, which in most houses means the top of a radiator, the windowsill above one, or the airing cupboard door left ajar. Hanging a bed off the radiator itself simply gives them a comfortable version of the place they were going to pick anyway, and gets them off cold floors and out from underfoot at the same time.

The frame is iron rather than plastic, which matters when eight hundred grams of bed plus a cat is hanging from two hooks: the hooks keep their shape instead of splaying and dropping the lot. Check your radiator first. This hangs over a standard panel radiator top. It will not sit properly on a column radiator, a towel rail with close-set bars, or a radiator boxed in behind a cover. Some cats also take a fortnight to trust a bed that moves when they jump into it, so hang it somewhere they already sit and then leave it alone.
