Cats sleep better with a roof over them. A covered bed cuts draughts, and more importantly it cuts the number of directions anything can approach from, which is why a nervous cat will pick a cardboard box over an open cushion every single time. This one is shaped like a small house and does exactly the same job with rather more dignity in a sitting room.

The roof is the clever part. It is a corrugated cardboard panel, so the surface a cat naturally climbs on top of is also somewhere they are allowed to scratch, and cardboard is the texture most cats prefer for horizontal scratching. A round doorway with a toy dangling at it turns the entrance into a play spot, which is generally how a cat is persuaded to investigate an unfamiliar bed at all. When you want the floor back, the whole thing folds flat.

• Enclosed house shape with a round doorway
• Corrugated cardboard scratch panel built into the roof
• Dangling toy hung at the entrance
• Draught-free, den-like sleeping space
• Folds flat for storage between uses

On dimensions, honestly. If your cat is a large breed, or simply a big animal, send us a message and we will measure a unit before you order rather than have you unpack a bed they cannot turn round in.

Who it's for: Cats who go to ground when the doorbell rings, and homes where the scratcher and the cat bed are currently two separate objects cluttering the same corner.
