A cat bed has to be somewhere a cat will actually go, and dens win over open cushions for most of them, particularly the ones who sleep on top of a wardrobe or inside a laundry basket. This one is a felt cone shaped and coloured like a snow-capped mountain, with an arched doorway cut into the side, so what your cat reads as a hiding place happens to look like a piece of decoration to everyone else.

Felt is a good material for the job because it holds a shape without a frame, so the cone stands up on its own and the doorway keeps its arch instead of sagging shut. The enclosed body blocks draughts on all sides and gives the fully covered, tucked-away feeling that cats look for when they want to be left alone, and the plain finish sits quietly in a living room rather than shouting about being pet furniture.

• Cone-shaped felt construction, snowy-mountain styling
• Arched side doorway for easy access
• Fully enclosed, draught-free den
• Holds its shape without an internal frame
• Neat enough to leave out in a living room
• One size

Who it's for: Cats who sleep hidden away rather than in the open, in homes where a bed has to look presentable in a main room.
