Enclosed beds have one real drawback: they get stuffy, and a cat who likes the shape will still abandon it in a warm room. Mesh panels on both sides fix that without opening the bed up, because air moves straight through at nose height while the walls, the roof and the whole sense of being tucked away stay exactly as they were.

The base is cushioned so there is padding between your pet and the floor, and the tent walls hold their shape rather than sagging in onto whoever is inside. The cat-print trim is the only decorative element, and the whole thing is light enough to pick up one-handed, which is worth more than it sounds: a bed that moves easily can follow the sun round the room, or go wherever your pet has decided this week is the right spot.

• Tent shape for a snug, den-like feel
• Breathable mesh windows on both sides
• Cushioned base for padding off the floor
• Cat-print trim
• Light enough to move around the house easily
• Suits cats and smaller dogs

On measurements: It is also strictly an indoor bed, since mesh windows and a fabric shell offer nothing at all against wind or rain.

Who it's for: Cats and small dogs who want to be hidden away indoors but overheat in a fully enclosed bed.
