A good bed lets your pet stretch out and curl up. Measure your pet nose-to-tail while they’re lying down, then add room to move.

How to measure

Measure your pet from nose to base of tail while lying relaxed.
Add roughly 15–25 cm so they can stretch out fully.
For pets that like to curl, you can size down slightly for a snug, den-like feel.

Cats sleep better under something. An open bed in the middle of the floor gets walked past for weeks while the cat sleeps in a drawer, because a covered space with one entrance is what feels defensible to an animal that is both predator and prey. A hooded house bed gives them exactly that, and gives you something you can pick up and put through the wash when it starts to smell of cat.

The hood is the point of it. It holds a roof over your pet and closes off three sides, so warmth stays in and the room stays out, which is why nervous cats take to a covered bed faster than an open one. The plush lining and trim are soft enough to knead at, a cat-face shape and a dangling pom-pom sit on the front, and the cushion inside lifts out so the bed can be washed properly rather than spot-cleaned.
