A cat will find the warmest spot in the house within a day of moving in, and in most British homes that turns out to be the top of a radiator, usually balanced on a narrow ledge with two legs hanging off the side. This gives them the same heat with an actual bed around it, hooked over the radiator so the whole cat fits and stays there rather than sliding off at two in the morning.

The frame is metal rather than plastic, which is what lets it hold a taut shape with a cat's weight in it and then collapse flat for storage in April when the heating goes off for the summer. Check the weight limit and check your radiator. 5kg is the manufacturer's figure and it is not generous, since plenty of adult cats, neutered males especially, are well over it. Check the hooks will clear the top of your own radiator too, because modern flat panels with a grille along the top, or radiators boxed in behind a cover, often will not take one. And it is only warm when the heating is on.
