Reptile Food & Supplies
Every habitat, well looked after.
Reptiles depend on us for heat, light and the right food, because they cannot make their own body heat. Get the habitat right first: a warm basking spot, a cooler end, and UVB light for species that need it. Then feed a diet made for that species.
Our quick picks
In-stock options for different needs, with the practical reason we would choose each one.

Best tortoise food
Komodo Tortoise Food Salad Mix
Why we picked it
This flavour rounds out the range alongside banana, cucumber and dandelion, which matters for anyone rotating flavours to keep a tortoise interested. It's the same complete-diet formulation as the rest of Komodo's line, just under a different name.

Best basking lamp
Exo Terra Intense Basking Spot
Why we picked it
The beam is genuinely narrow enough to create a real hot spot rather than just warming the whole tank, which a lot of basking bulbs claim and fewer actually manage. It also covers amphibians and invertebrates as well as reptiles, so it does more of the job than a bulb marketed at reptiles alone.

Best turtle and terrapin food
Tetra Reptomin Sticks
Why we picked it
We chose Tetra ReptoMin Sticks because the product has a clear species, complete status and feeding direction. Its detailed mineral and analytical values also help water-turtle keepers compare foods using label facts.

A little guidance
The basics by reptile
| Reptile | Diet | Habitat must-have |
|---|---|---|
| Tortoise | High-fibre plants, weeds and tortoise food | UVB light and a warm basking area. |
| Bearded dragon | Insects and greens, varying with age | Strong UVB and a hot basking spot. |
| Turtle or terrapin | Turtle sticks plus greens | Clean water, a basking platform and UVB. |
| Snake | Whole prey of the right size | A secure lid and a thermostat on the heat. |
Heat needs a gradient
Reptiles warm up and cool down by moving between hot and cooler areas. Put the heat source at one end so there is a gradient, and measure both ends with a thermometer.
Every heat source should be controlled by a thermostat, and lamps should have a guard so the animal cannot touch the bulb.
UVB is not optional for many species
Tortoises, bearded dragons and many other reptiles need UVB light to use calcium properly. Without it they can develop metabolic bone disease.
UVB output fades long before a tube stops glowing, so replace lamps on the maker’s schedule, not when they fail.
Feed for the species
Tortoises need a high-fibre, low-protein diet based on weeds and plants; the Tortoise Trust recommends keeping it as close to natural grazing as possible. Fruit should be rare.
Insect eaters do best when insects are fed well before being offered and dusted with a calcium supplement as your vet advises. Frozen prey for snakes must be thawed fully before feeding.
Hygiene around reptiles
Reptiles can carry salmonella without looking ill. Wash your hands after handling them, their food or their enclosure, and keep their bowls away from the kitchen sink.
Spot-clean substrate daily and replace it fully on the schedule for that type. Find a vet who sees reptiles before you need one.
Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.
Common questions
Do tortoises need UVB light?
Yes. Indoors they need UVB to use calcium, along with a warm basking spot.
How often should I replace a UVB bulb?
On the maker’s schedule, often every six to twelve months, because UVB fades before the light does.
What should a tortoise eat?
Mostly high-fibre plants and weeds, with tortoise food as a supplement and very little fruit.
