A little guidance
Choosing dog coats
Which dogs need a coat?
Thin-coated breeds, small dogs, puppies and older dogs lose heat fast and genuinely benefit from a layer on cold or wet UK days.
Thick double-coated breeds usually run warm and rarely need one — though a waterproof shell can still keep a soggy walk more pleasant.
Getting the fit right
Measure along the back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, then check the chest girth against the size guide.
A good coat covers the back and chest without restricting the legs or rubbing under the arms.
Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.

Common questions
How do I measure my dog for a coat?
Measure the back length from neck to tail base, plus the chest girth. Compare to the product size chart and size up if your dog is between sizes or very fluffy.
Are the coats waterproof?
Some are water-resistant or waterproof, while insulated dry-weather coats are not. Check the individual product description rather than assuming warmth also means rain protection.
Can my dog wear a coat all day?
Outdoor coats are best removed indoors so the dog can regulate temperature and the garment can dry. For indoor warmth, use a correctly fitted light layer and check regularly for overheating.
