Dogs tend to get fussier about food as they get older, not less, and the harder problem for anyone feeding a senior dog is that they usually need fewer calories at exactly the point they're becoming pickier about eating them.

Autarky's Mature Lite Delicious Chicken is built around poultry meal with a minimum chicken content of 14%, a notably lower headline figure than their standard adult recipes, alongside maize, rice and unmolassed beet pulp. Protein is 17% and oil 6.5%, both moderate, and it's described as complete feedingstuff suitable for dogs typically over 7 years old. Feeding is given as two separate daily guides for the same bodyweight - an "active" amount and a lower "lite" amount.

On the protein source. The named protein is poultry meal with a minimum chicken content of 14% - a lower figure than Autarky print on some of their other recipes, and worth knowing if you're comparing this bag to a different one in their range on the strength of the word chicken alone.

Who it's for: owners of older dogs, typically over 7, who want a lower-calorie recipe with a choice of feeding amount depending on how active their dog still is.
