Reflective dog leads
A reflective dog lead has a reflective thread woven through the material or a printed reflective strip along its length, which lights up under headlights, streetlights or a torch far more than the lead's base colour ever would. It's a small, low-cost change that makes you and your dog noticeably easier to spot on a dark walk.
How reflective materials actually work
The reflective thread or strip works by bouncing light back toward its source rather than scattering it, which is why a reflective lead looks unremarkable in daylight but flares up sharply when a car's headlights or a torch beam hit it directly.
