Leads are chosen by length and width rather than your pet’s body size. Pick the width to suit your pet’s strength and the length to suit how you walk.
How to measure
- Width: lighter, narrower webbing for small dogs; wider, thicker webbing for strong pullers and larger dogs.
- Standard lead (1.2–1.5 m): everyday pavement walks and training.
- Long line (3–10 m): recall practice and open spaces.
- Short / traffic lead (under 1 m): close control in busy areas.
| Length | Best for |
|---|---|
| Under 1 m | Traffic / close control |
| 1.2–1.5 m | Everyday walks (most popular) |
| 1.8–2 m | Relaxed walks, more freedom |
| 3 m + | Recall training, open spaces |
Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact length and width.

Full description
The jolt when a dog hits the end of a lead travels in both directions, into its neck or chest and into your shoulder and elbow. An elasticated section absorbs most of that, which is why runners and anybody walking a young dog finish the walk noticeably less battered. This one adds a glow finish on top, so the lead itself stays visible once the light has gone from a winter afternoon.
It is nylon webbing, adjustable in length so the same lead works clipped short along a pavement and let out across a field, with an anti-tangle construction that stops the elastic section corkscrewing the way a plain bungee lead will. The glow lives in the material rather than in a battery, so there is nothing to charge and nothing to fail in the rain. Four colours are offered, and black is the one that will not show a winter of mud.
- Nylon webbing with an elasticated shock-absorbing section
- Adjustable length
- Anti-tangle construction
- Glow-in-the-dark finish, no batteries required
- Four colours: black, orange, blue or grey
- Supplied as one lead
It glows, it does not light up. Despite how leads like this are often listed, there is no LED and no battery in it. The finish absorbs light and gives it back, which fades over perhaps an hour and needs daylight or a lamp to recharge. On an unlit lane that is a useful extra rather than your whole visibility plan, so wear something reflective yourself. The manufacturer publishes no length, so tell us what you need and we will measure one.
Who it's for: Runners and fast walkers, owners of young dogs still learning not to hit the end of the lead, and anyone walking on unlit roads through the winter.

Why we chose it
The elasticated section takes the jolt out of a lunge before it reaches your shoulder. I should be clear on the glow though - it is a phosphorescent finish, not an LED, so it fades after roughly an hour.
