Does a cat collar need a safety buckle?
Yes. A cat collar should have a quick-release or breakaway buckle that opens under pressure, so it comes off if it snags on a branch, fence or furniture rather than trapping your cat.
How tight should it be?
You should be able to slip two fingers flat between the collar and your cat’s neck. Check the fit regularly, and weekly on a growing kitten.
