Red Dingo Classic Cat Collar in six colours. Hard-wearing, comfortable and finished with solid hardware — and, like all Red Dingo gear, covered by their 5-year guarantee.

Choosing a colour

• Black — Plain black, no pattern to clash with anything, and Red Dingo's five-year guarantee behind it. I keep a few unpatterned collars on the shelf because most cat owners want something that simply disappears against the coat.
• Dark Blue — Cat collars fail at the buckle and the D-ring, never the fabric. Red Dingo build the hardware first and guarantee it five years. Dark blue also sits better on a grey or blue-cream cat than black, which just looks heavy.
• Hot Pink — Cat collars get lost, chewed and snagged, so a five-year guarantee is a genuinely odd thing for a maker to offer on one. Red Dingo do, and that is the reason this range is here.
• Purple — Purple is easy to pick out against a tabby or black coat, which helps when a cat comes home at dusk. Otherwise plain webbing, Red Dingo hardware, and the five-year guarantee they put on everything.
• Red — Red is the practical pick for a cat with any outdoor life. It shows against grass and gravel, and a stranger who finds them notices the tag straight away. Check two fingers slide under it as your cat gains or loses condition.
• Turquoise — A distinctive colour turns out to be genuinely useful information when you are describing a missing cat to a neighbour or reading it out to a rescue. Bright against tabby, ginger and tortoiseshell. Take a photograph of your cat wearing it.
