Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.
How to measure
- Stand your pet up squarely.
- Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
- If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.

Full description
Letting a cat outside on a lead is a slower project than most people expect, and the bulk of it happens indoors. Wearing the harness around the house for a few days, then eating in it, then finally opening the door: that sequence is what makes the difference between a walk and a bolt. Having the harness and the matching lead together from the start means nothing has to be introduced twice.
The harness spreads any pull across the chest and back rather than concentrating it on the throat, and that is not a nicety where cats are concerned. A cat's neck is not built to take a lead, and a collar-and-lead set-up is genuinely unsafe. Adjustment at both the neck and the body lets the fit be closed right down, because the gap a cat can reverse out of is smaller than you would think.
