A collar that a kitten can't escape from if it snags on something is a collar that puts a growing, exploring animal at risk, which is why a breakaway design matters more on a kitten than almost any other piece of kit you'll sell it.

This collar is made from a special tight-weave fabric designed to stop a kitten's claws snagging the material, and fitted with a snap-free buckle that lets the kitten break free if the collar catches on something while it's out exploring. It's adjustable, one size, at 3/8 inch by 4-8 inches (1.0 x 10-20cm), and fitted with a bell to warn birds of the kitten's approach. It comes in blue, pink and purple.

• Snap-free (snag-free) safety buckle
• Tight-weave fabric designed to resist claw snagging
• Adjustable, one size: 3/8" x 4-8" (1.0 x 10-20cm)
• Fitted with a bell to warn birds
• Available in blue, pink and purple

On the fit. One size is meant to cover a kitten's growth within the 4-8 inch adjustment range, but a kitten that's already close to the top of that range will need checking regularly, and moving up to a full-sized cat collar, sooner than you might expect.

Who it's for: owners of a young, growing kitten who want a genuine breakaway safety feature rather than a decorative collar borrowed from the adult cat aisle.
