What Ancol have not supplied
There is no neck measurement, no adjustment range, no material and no weight for this collar anywhere in the listing, so a cat at either end of the scale - a small kitten, or a very heavy adult - is being fitted without a number to check against. The other thing worth saying plainly is that a break-away buckle is meant to come off, and a collar meant to come off is not an identification system on its own.
Why we chose it
Break-away buckles are the only kind of cat collar I will stock, and Ancol fit one as standard rather than selling it as an upgrade. The bell is the other reason - it is a small thing to do for the birds in your garden and it costs nothing extra here. At this price it is the cheapest safety feature on the shelf.

Size guide & how to measure
Collars are sized by the neck girth — the measurement around the base of the neck where the collar will sit.
How to measure
- Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck.
- Add room for two fingers between the tape and the neck.
- Use that measurement to pick a size whose range it falls within.
| Size | Typical neck girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 20–28 cm | Toy breeds, kittens |
| S | 26–36 cm | Small dogs |
| M | 34–48 cm | Medium dogs |
| L | 46–60 cm | Large dogs |
| XL | 58–72 cm | Giant breeds |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.

Full description
Cats keep their own hours, and the two they favour most - the last of the light and the first of it - are exactly the two a driver's eyes handle worst. A collar cannot make a cat sensible about roads. What it can do is put something back into a headlight that the cat itself does not.
Ancol's answer here is a reflective cat pattern printed along the strap, so the collar throws light back in low light. Two other things come as standard across Ancol's cat collars: a break-away buckle, designed to let go if the cat is caught up while climbing rather than hold on, and a warning bell to give birds and small mammals some notice. Ancol's own fitting instruction is that you should be able to get two fingers between the collar and the cat, and that the fit is checked each day rather than once at the point of purchase.
- Reflective cat pattern for low light
- Break-away buckle, so the collar releases if the cat is snagged
- Warning bell fitted as standard across Ancol cat collars
- Ancol's fit test: two fingers between your cat and the collar
- Made across the range in orange, pink and green
- Ancol advise removing it when a liquid flea treatment is applied

Who it's for: owners of cats that go outside, particularly near a road, and anyone who wants a bell on for the sake of the birds in the garden. It earns nothing on an indoor cat that never leaves the flat.

Common questions
Does it come with a bell?
Yes. Ancol fit a warning bell as standard across their cat collars, so wildlife gets some notice.
What happens if my cat gets caught on a fence?
The buckle is a break-away design, meant to release under pressure so the cat can free itself rather than be held. That is also why it should not be relied on as an identification collar.
How tight should it be?
Ancol's instruction is that you can slide two fingers between the collar and your cat, and that you check the fit each day rather than once.
Can I leave it on when I use a liquid flea treatment?
Ancol say to take it off. A liquid flea treatment can react with the materials of the collar.
What colours is it made in?
Orange, pink and green across the range.
