A senior dog's joints don't announce themselves the way a limp does - stiffness after a nap or a slower start to a walk is often the first sign, long before there's an obvious problem to point to. A senior food that puts something toward joint support before that point is a reasonable way to plan ahead rather than react.

This box holds six 400g trays split across three recipes for senior dogs - chicken, duck and turkey, each with rice and vegetables - and each recipe includes glucosamine and chondroitin alongside the meat, rice and veg. It isn't a grain-free food; brown rice is a genuine part of the recipe rather than being excluded.

• 6 x 400g trays: 2 chicken, 2 duck, 2 turkey
• Meat content 65% across all three recipes
• Chicken: 10% protein, 7.5% fat, 120Kcal per 100g
• Duck: 9.5% protein, 7.5% fat, 121Kcal per 100g
• Turkey: 9.5% protein, 8.5% fat, 127Kcal per 100g
• Contains glucosamine, chondroitin and L-Carnitine

On what senior actually means here. Naturo don't publish an age threshold for when a dog should move onto this recipe - senior is a life-stage label rather than a specific age on the card we have, so it's worth going by your own dog's condition and your vet's steer rather than a birthday.

Who it's for: older dogs whose owners want a food with rice and vegetables rather than a grain-free formula, and who like the idea of rotating three flavours rather than committing to one tray after another.
