Pro Plan puppy food
We stock three recipes from Purina's Pro Plan Puppy Healthy Start range: Medium Breed Chicken for puppies expected to reach 10-70kg as adults, Large Robust Breed Chicken for a heavier-framed large or giant breed, and Large Athletic Breed Chicken for a leaner large or giant breed. What actually matters in a puppy food
A puppy needs a food formulated specifically for growth, with calcium, phosphorus and protein balanced for developing bones rather than an adult dog's maintenance needs. All three Pro Plan Healthy Start recipes we stock are built this way, with protein running between 29% and 32% depending on the recipe.
Breed build changes the numbers as much as breed size does. Large Robust Breed Chicken and Large Athletic Breed Chicken are both aimed at large and giant puppies, but Purina sells them as separate formulas — 29% protein and 15% fat for the robust build against 32% protein and 18% fat for the athletic one — because a heavier-framed puppy and a leaner one are not fed the same way.

For a large or giant breed puppy, the choice between Large Robust Breed Chicken and Large Athletic Breed Chicken comes down to build rather than size alone — robust for a heavier frame, athletic for a leaner one.
