Pro Plan grain-free
Being upfront about this one: our current Pro Plan range covers everyday adult recipes, puppy formulas and a sensitive-skin option, but it does not currently include a dedicated grain-free Pro Plan recipe. If grain-free specifically is what you are after, our wider grain-free dog food range below is the more direct place to look, and this page also explains what Pro Plan does offer.
What our Pro Plan range actually covers
Pro Plan is Purina's more premium, science-led dog food line, and the recipes we carry span everyday adult nutrition, puppy formulas for different sizes, and a sensitive-skin adult recipe built around salmon as the main protein. The sensitive-skin option is worth knowing about specifically if a grain-free search was really about a sensitivity rather than grain-free labelling for its own sake.
Grain-free is a labelling choice rather than a guarantee of anything about quality or suitability — plenty of dogs do perfectly well on a food containing rice or another grain, and grain itself is rarely the actual trigger in a genuine food intolerance, which is more often a specific protein. If your interest in grain-free comes from a suspected sensitivity, that is worth discussing with your vet rather than assuming the grain is the cause.
Where to look if grain-free is what you need
Our grain-free dog food range below covers a number of other brands built specifically around leaving grain out, so it is the more direct place to look if that label is a genuine requirement for your dog rather than a general preference.
As with any change of diet, whichever food you choose, introduce it gradually over several days rather than switching overnight, and speak to your vet if your dog has a diagnosed sensitivity rather than choosing a food based on labelling alone.

Common questions
- Does Giddy Pets stock a grain-free Pro Plan recipe?
- Not currently — our Pro Plan range covers everyday adult, puppy and sensitive-skin recipes rather than a dedicated grain-free line. If grain-free is a genuine requirement for your dog, our wider grain-free dog food range covers several other brands built specifically around that.
- Is grain-free food better for dogs?
- Not automatically. Grain-free is a labelling choice rather than a marker of quality, and most dogs digest grains such as rice perfectly well. A genuine food intolerance is usually to a specific protein rather than grain itself, so it is worth confirming any suspected sensitivity with your vet rather than assuming grain-free is the answer.
- Is Pro Plan good for a dog with sensitive skin?
- Pro Plan's sensitive-skin adult recipe, built around salmon, is aimed at exactly that. Whether it suits your individual dog depends on the specific cause of their skin issue, so it is worth mentioning to your vet if the problem is ongoing rather than choosing a food based on the label alone.
- Why would a dog need a grain-free diet specifically?
- Some dogs are diagnosed with a genuine grain sensitivity, though this is less common than a sensitivity to a specific protein such as chicken or beef. A vet-supervised elimination diet is the reliable way to identify what your dog actually reacts to, rather than removing grain speculatively.
