A large-breed dog's needs shift noticeably once it is past the growth phase but still years from being a senior, and "adult" for a large breed covers a specific, narrower window than it does for a small dog - which is what Pro Plan's Robust line is pitched at directly, naming that stage rather than leaving it vague.

Chicken, including back and chest cuts, makes up 19% of the recipe, with rice at 7-8%, dried poultry protein, wheat, corn, soya meal, dried beet pulp and dried egg alongside fish oil. Purina describe it as a complete dry food for adult large robust dogs from around 18-24 months to 7 years old. Protein comes out at 27%, fat at 12%, crude ash at 7.5%, crude fibre at 2.5%, with taurine at 0.1% and L-carnitine at 0.02%.

On the age window. Purina specify this recipe for large dogs roughly between 18-24 months and 7 years old - not for a growing puppy and not necessarily right once a large breed moves into its senior years, since needs shift again at that point. Check where your dog sits in that range before assuming it is the right food indefinitely.

Who it's for: owners of a large-breed adult dog within that specific middle-life window, who want a recipe pitched at that stage rather than a generic all-life-stages food.
