Raw & Frozen Dog Food

Good food. Happy tails.

Raw feeders choose between complete frozen meals, which can be fed on their own, and complementary minces and chews, which cannot. Check that word on every pack. Raw food needs freezer space and kitchen hygiene, so plan both before you order.

Our quick picks

In-stock options for different needs, with the practical reason we would choose each one.

  • Nutriment Adult Dog Light Support Frozen

    Best for weight control

Nutriment Adult Dog Light Support Frozen

    Why we picked it

The 5.9% fat declaration is useful, but the complementary status matters more than the Light Support name. I chose it only with that limitation made prominent.

  • Benyfit Natural 80 10 10 Chicken Meat Feast Raw Dog Food

    Best 80/10/10 complete

Benyfit Natural 80 10 10 Chicken Meat Feast Raw Dog Food

    Why we picked it

The named ratio is exactly what's in the composition, not just a name on the label, which is worth more than it sounds in a category where the two don't always match. It's honestly recorded as complementary rather than complete, so nobody buys one bag expecting it to be the whole diet.

  • Natures Menu Natural Raw Turkey Necks

    Best raw chew

Natures Menu Natural Raw Turkey Necks

    Why we picked it

The deciding point is the short composition backed by a visible analytical declaration. I can offer it as a clearly labelled complementary option without pretending that it replaces a complete meal.

A little guidance

Complete or complementary?

ComplementaryPart of a planned dietA plain mince or bone lacks vitamins and minerals on its own.

Handle it like raw meat, because it is

The Food Standards Agency advises keeping raw pet food frozen until needed, thawing it in the fridge, keeping it apart from human food, and washing hands, bowls and surfaces after use.

Raw food can carry bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli, and dogs on raw diets can shed them. Take extra care in homes with young children, older people or anyone with a weakened immune system.

Thaw and serve safely

Thaw a day’s portion overnight in a covered container on the bottom shelf of the fridge. Use thawed food within the time the pack gives, and do not refreeze it.

Lift the bowl when your dog has finished, rather than leaving raw food out, and wash it in hot soapy water.

Switching to raw

Some owners change over gradually; others go straight over. Either way, start with a single protein and watch the stools for a week before adding variety.

Puppies need a complete raw food made for growth, because getting the calcium balance wrong in a puppy can affect bone development. Ask your vet if you are unsure.

Bones and chews need supervision

Never feed cooked bones, which splinter. Raw chews such as necks should suit the size of the dog, and you should stay with your dog while it eats.

Count raw chews as part of the daily amount. A dog that gulps should have chews it cannot swallow whole, or none at all.

Everything here is chosen to be genuinely useful in everyday life with your pet — quality-checked, fairly priced and shipped tracked across the UK. For any health concern, your vet is always the best first port of call.

Common questions

Is raw dog food complete?

Only if the pack says complete. Plain minces and bones are complementary and need balancing.

How do I thaw raw dog food?

In a covered container in the fridge, overnight. Do not thaw it on the worktop or refreeze it.

Can puppies eat raw food?

Only a complete raw food made for puppies. Their calcium and phosphorus needs are strict while they grow.
