Weaning is the point where a puppy first has to work out solid food is a thing, and the easiest way in is something soft enough that it barely feels different from what they've been suckling.

Nutriment's Dog Weaning Paste is made from one ingredient — 100% British chicken with bone — and is meant as a complementary supplement to the mother's milk, for puppies aged 3 to 6 weeks. The instruction is to let puppies suckle first, then offer the paste alongside. The analysis is moisture 67.2%, protein 16.8%, fat 12.4%, ash (inorganic matter) 3.5% and fibre 0.4%. It's frozen, and once defrosted stays fresh in the fridge for 3-4 days.

• 100% British chicken with bone, single ingredient
• For weaning puppies, 3-6 weeks
• Complementary to the mother's milk, not a replacement for it
• Protein 16.8%, fat 12.4%, moisture 67.2%, ash 3.5%, fibre 0.4%
• 500g, frozen
• Once defrosted, keeps 3-4 days in the fridge

On timing. Nutriment's own guidance names an age window of 3 to 6 weeks and a specific order — suckle first, then offer the paste — rather than a free choice of when to start. Outside that window, or for a puppy not yet suckling well, this isn't the product to reach for without checking with a vet first.

Who it's for: breeders and owners weaning a litter of puppies who want a single-ingredient first solid food, rather than a processed weaning formula.
