A senior dog that has spent years on a chicken or turkey recipe doesn't necessarily need a dramatic change — sometimes a different named protein and a joint-support additive is the whole brief, without disrupting a routine that otherwise works.

Fish is the named animal protein, though brown rice is the largest single ingredient by weight at 26%, ahead of the 16% dried fish protein, with a further 10% white rice besides. It is a complete food for senior dogs, and James Wellbeloved's approach across the range is to exclude beef, pork, soya, eggs, dairy and wheat.

• Complete food for senior dogs, named protein: fish
• Brown rice (26%) is the largest single ingredient, ahead of the 16% dried fish protein
• Protein 20.4%, fat 9.8%, crude ash 6.5%, crude fibre 3.0%
• Omega-3 at 1.6%, the highest among James Wellbeloved's senior dry recipes here
• Glucosamine (0.045%) and chondroitin (0.005%) for joint support
• 2KG bag

On the rice. Fish is the named animal protein, but brown rice is the largest single ingredient by weight at 26%, ahead of the 16% dried fish protein, with a further 10% white rice on top. If "Fish & Rice" suggested a mostly-fish kibble, this is closer to a rice-based food with fish providing the flavour and the named protein.

Who it's for: senior dogs whose owner wants the higher omega-3 of a fish-based recipe alongside joint-support additives, rather than a high-meat formula.
