What matters in a puppy food, whatever the brand
A genuine complete puppy food is formulated differently from an adult recipe, with calcium, phosphorus and protein balanced for a growing skeleton rather than an adult dog's maintenance needs. Beta Puppy Breed Turkey and Beta Puppy Chicken carry a lower fat content, 12% and 14%, aimed at large and giant breeds that need steady rather than rapid growth, while Beta Puppy Small Breed Chicken runs richer at 15% fat and 29% protein to suit a small breed's faster metabolism.
The four recipes we stock
Beta Puppy Breed Turkey leads with turkey meal at 25%, comes in 2kg and 14kg bags, and carries 28% protein and 12% fat — it's the recipe built for large and giant breeds. Beta Puppy Chicken is the chicken-based recipe at 27% chicken meal, 28% protein and 14% fat, also in 2kg and 14kg bags, and is labelled suitable across toy to giant sizes.
Beta Puppy Small Breed Chicken is the same 27% chicken meal base run richer, at 29% protein and 15% fat in a 2kg bag, for toy and small breeds. Beta Puppy Turkey & Lamb combines turkey meal at 20% with lamb meal at 7%, comes in a 14kg bag, and is labelled suitable for smaller dogs that stay on the same food once they reach adult size rather than switching to a separate adult recipe.
Picking the right one for your puppy
The label to check first is your puppy's expected ADULT weight, not its weight today — Beta's feeding tables for all four recipes are built around where your dog will end up, not where it is now. A puppy expected to reach 25-70kg as an adult is a different feeding case from one expected to stay under 10kg, even on the same day of its life.
If you are not sure which of the four fits your puppy, it usually comes down to expected adult size: Breed Turkey or Chicken for a large or giant breed, Small Breed Chicken for a toy or small breed, and Turkey & Lamb where you expect to keep the same food on into adulthood.
