Full description

Small and toy-breed puppies reach their adult size so quickly that some owners never actually move them onto a separate adult food at all, which is why a small-breed puppy formula sometimes ends up doubling as a lifelong diet.

Turkey meal leads this recipe at 20%, with lamb meal at 7%. DHA is included at 0.05% and energy is declared at 375 kcal per 100g, and BETA's feeding table is set by both age (1.5–12 months) and expected adult weight (5–25kg).

On the toy-dog claim. BETA state this is also suitable for adult toy dogs, not only puppies — which means it could end up as a long-term food for a small dog rather than something you switch away from at a year old, worth knowing before you settle into a routine either way.

Who it's for: owners of a small or toy-breed puppy (expected adult weight 5–25kg), and it can also carry on as a food for an adult toy dog.

Why we chose it

It's approved for adult toy dogs as well as puppies, which means there's no forced switch to a different bag once your dog stops growing. The feeding table by expected adult weight is also properly broken down rather than a single flat guess.
