A big dog isn't just a small dog scaled up - the joints carrying that extra frame take a different kind of daily load, and a food built for a 12kg dog doesn't automatically suit one three or four times the size. BETA's large-breed recipe is aimed at dogs over 25kg specifically, rather than being the standard adult food in a bigger bag.

Turkey meal leads the composition at 28%, with wheat, corn and wheat middling making up most of the rest, and poultry fat rather than a separate oil blend. Fish oil is included as a named source of omega-3, at a smaller share than the plant-based fats, alongside a chicory root prebiotic (1%).

• Turkey meal (28%)
• Protein 25%, fat 11%, crude ash 7%
• Omega-3 fatty acids 0.34%, omega-6 fatty acids 2.6%
• Fish oil included as a named omega-3 source
• Energy 362kcal per 100g
• Formulated for large-breed adult dogs (over 25kg)
• 14KG bag

On the weight cut-off. BETA pitch this at dogs over 25kg, but Purina's own feeding table only starts at 25kg and doesn't offer guidance for a large-breed dog still growing towards that weight - so it's built with a fully grown large dog in mind, not a big puppy on the way up.

Who it's for: owners of large and giant breeds already at or past 25kg who want a recipe formulated around that size rather than a standard adult food scaled up by portion alone.
