Most feeding tables assume a dog is at the weight it should be. This one doesn't - Purina print two figures side by side for every weight band, one to hold a dog steady and a noticeably lower one for actual weight loss, which is a more honest way to hand over a diet food than pretending one number does both jobs.

Turkey meal is the named protein at 27%, with wheat, corn, wheat middlings and dried beet pulp (2%) making up the bulk of the rest. Fat is held at 10%, lower than BETA's standard adult recipes, and the beet pulp is there to add bulk without adding much energy.

On the two numbers. Purina's chart gives a "maintain" amount and a lower "weight loss" amount for every weight band, and it's easy to default to the higher one without meaning to. Neither figure is published as a calorie count, so there's no way to cross-check it against anything else you might be feeding alongside it.
