Full description

A working dog doing three hours a day and one doing one hour a day are not eating the same amount by the time the week is out, and a feeding table that only offers a single "active dog" figure is guessing at which one you've got. This recipe gives three tiers instead of one, so the portion follows the actual workload rather than a rough average of it.

Chicken meal sits at 22%, backed by dried animal protein for extra protein density, with wheat and wheat middlings making up most of the rest. Fat runs higher than BETA's standard adult recipes at 14%, in line with the higher energy a working dog burns through.

Chicken meal (22%) plus dried animal protein
Protein 27%, fat 14%, crude ash 8%
Energy 375kcal per 100g
Feeding table split by normal activity, 1 hour, and 3+ hours of work a day
14KG bag

One thing worth knowing. Purina do not publish a crude fibre figure for this recipe, unlike several of their other BETA lines, so there is no way to check that measure against their other adult foods from the label alone.

Who it's for: owners of dogs doing genuine daily work - not just long walks - who want a feeding table that scales with hours worked rather than a single active-dog estimate.

Beta 1+ Adult Working Dog Chicken

Why we chose it

The three-tier feeding table is the reason to reach for this over a standard active-dog food - a dog doing three hours of work a day needs meaningfully more than one doing a normal walk, and most bags don't separate the two. Chicken as the named protein also keeps it simple if you're already feeding chicken-based food to other dogs in the house.
