A puppy small enough to be picked up in one hand is usually the same puppy whose stomach objects loudest to a sudden change of food.

This is a complete dry food for puppies of small and medium breeds, built around dried chicken and turkey (30% of the recipe, 18% of that chicken) plus a further 10% fresh chicken. It carries omega-3 at 0.5%, omega-6 at 2.5% and DHA at 0.18%, alongside the usual mineral panel, and IAMS say to introduce it gradually over 4 days when switching a puppy onto it.

• Complete dry food for puppies of small and medium breeds
• Protein 28%, fat 17%, crude fibre 2.3%, crude ash 6.5%
• Dried chicken and turkey 30% (18% chicken) plus 10% fresh chicken
• Omega-3 0.5%, omega-6 2.5%, DHA 0.18%
• Contains barley, maize and rice — not a grain-free recipe
• 2KG bag

One thing the old listing got wrong. This recipe is not grain-free — barley, maize and rice all appear in the composition list, and an earlier listing on this site claiming otherwise was mistaken. IAMS make no wheat-free or gluten-free claim for it either, so don't assume either. Separately, their own feeding guidance says a puppy expected to reach an adult weight over 25kg should be fed their Large Breed Puppy & Junior food instead — worth checking before you commit to a bag if you're raising a crossbreed of uncertain adult size.

Who it's for: owners of a small or medium breed puppy being weaned onto solid food, who want a complete recipe rather than one to top up with something else.
