A visually varied kibble — different shapes and colours in the same bowl — is partly there for the dog and partly there for the owner scooping it, since a blend of chunks reads as more substantial than a uniform pellet.

Gelert Variety Chunks is made from cereals, meat and animal derivatives, derivatives of vegetable origin, oils and fats, and vitamins and minerals. Analysis gives 22% protein, 9% oil, 3% fibre and 11% ash, with added Vitamin A (10,000 IU/kg), Vitamin D3 (1,750 IU/kg), Vitamin E (80mg/kg) and copper (20mg/kg). It's sold here as a complete food for maintaining peak fitness and condition.

On what's not named. "Meat and animal derivatives" is a category rather than a named meat, so Gelert don't say on this card which meats make up the protein — if your dog needs to avoid a specific meat, this bag can't confirm or rule it out.

Who it's for: owners of working or active dogs who want a maintenance-level feed at a reasonably high protein and ash content, and don't need a single named meat on the label.
