An older dog that's started leaving food in the bowl isn't always losing its appetite; it's just as likely to be bored of the same tray every night, which is the whole case for a variety pack instead of one flavour repeated twelve times.

This case holds twelve 395g trays split between two recipes — Lamb with Brown Rice & Vegetables and White Fish with Brown Rice & Vegetables — both a complete wet food for senior dogs. The lamb recipe is 60% lamb, with brown rice, carrots and peas, glucosamine and chondroitin each at 100mg/kg, and salmon oil; it runs 8.5% protein and 6.5% fat. The white fish recipe is leaner on the panel — 9.5% protein, 3.5% fat and a higher 0.5% omega-3 — though Forthglade's full ingredient breakdown for that recipe wasn't supplied to us.

• Complete wet food for senior dogs, 12 x 395g trays, two recipes
• Lamb with Brown Rice & Vegetables: lamb 60%, brown rice 6%, protein 8.5%, fat 6.5%
• White Fish with Brown Rice & Vegetables: protein 9.5%, fat 3.5%, omega-3 0.5%
• Lamb recipe includes glucosamine and chondroitin, each at 100mg/kg
• Vitamin and mineral additives are identical across both recipes
• Not a grain-free food — both recipes contain brown rice

What the range copy doesn't tell you about this pack. Forthglade's own marketing for this line mentions offering "grain-free and wholegrain" senior food elsewhere in their range, which reads as if grain-free is on the table here — it isn't. Both recipes in this case are built around brown rice. Forthglade also haven't given us the full ingredient list for the white fish recipe, only its nutritional panel, so we can't say with certainty everything that's in it beyond what's above.

Who it's for: owners of a senior dog who wants variety across a fortnight of dinners rather than the same tray every night, and who isn't specifically shopping for a grain-free diet.
