Senior dogs are often the ones an owner starts reading ingredient panels properly for, checking specifically for joint support rather than just protein and fat.

It's built around turkey (60%), with butternut squash (6%), carrots (4%) and peas (4%), plus chicory root extract, salmon oil, linseed oil, dried seaweed, a herb blend of parsley, rosemary, nettle and camomile, and added glucosamine (100mg/kg) and chondroitin (100mg/kg). Forthglade use the same fresh-meat, vegetable and mineral structure across their senior range, with turkey standing in here as the named protein and the joint-support additions carried through consistently.

A word on portion. Forthglade's feeding table runs by dog weight rather than a flat scoop size, and a senior dog may need less than an adult recipe would suggest — go by the table rather than by what a younger dog the same weight would eat.

Who it's for: owners of senior dogs wanting a turkey-based complete food with added glucosamine and chondroitin.
