A plush toy usually loses to a determined chewer within minutes, which is the gap Kevlar yarn is there to close — it's the same fibre used in armour and aerospace parts for its tensile strength, repurposed into a dog toy's seams.

This shark-shaped toy is built with Kevlar yarn and reinforced seams, designed for strong chewers of all ages and sizes, and carries a built-in squeaker and crinkle material for extra engagement during play. Company of Animals suit it to both indoor and outdoor play, and it's spot-clean only rather than machine washable.

One thing worth knowing. "Strong chewer" toys still aren't chew-proof, and Kevlar-reinforced seams are a step up in durability rather than a guarantee — Company of Animals recommend choosing the appropriate size for the dog's breed, and any plush toy should be supervised and retired once it starts coming apart.

Who it's for: owners of dogs that go through plush toys quickly and want reinforced seams and a squeaker built to hold up better than a standard soft toy.
