Buying a full 12kg sack of puppy food for an animal you don't yet know the adult size or appetite of is a bit of a leap, and a smaller bag to start with is the more sensible way to find out whether the recipe suits before committing to the bigger one.

This 2kg bag is Autarky's Puppy/Junior Delicious Chicken Complete, built on poultry meal with a minimum chicken content of 34%, alongside maize, chicken fat and rice. Protein sits at 28% and oil at 16%. The feeding table runs in roughly two-month steps by your puppy's age and their expected adult size, from under a month old through to eight months.

• Poultry meal (minimum 34% chicken)
• Protein 28%, oil 16%, fibre 3%, ash 6.5%
• Omega 3 at 0.9%, omega 6 at 3.5%
• Feeding table in two-month steps from under 1 month to 8 months
• Smaller 2kg bag
• Described as naturally hypoallergenic

On the youngest feeding bracket. The table's first line is "under 1 month", which is younger than most puppies are actually eating solid food - they're usually still weaning. That line matters more to a breeder feeding a litter than to most people buying a single bag.

Who it's for: owners who want to try this feeding-table-led recipe in a smaller bag before deciding whether to buy the larger size, across small, medium, large or very large expected adult sizes.
