A senior dog carries the same joint wear as a large breed does, just accumulated over years rather than rapid growth, which is why this recipe pairs a lower-calorie formula with higher joint-support levels than Arden Grange's standard adult food.

This recipe combines chicken meat meal (21%) and fresh chicken (20%) for a 41% total, with sweet potato and tapioca rather than grain. Glucosamine and MSM sit at 888mg/kg each, and chondroitin at 624mg/kg — higher figures than Arden Grange's large-breed adult recipe. Protein is 26%, with separate feeding amounts for weight maintenance and weight loss.

• Glucosamine 888mg/kg, MSM 888mg/kg, chondroitin 624mg/kg
• Protein 26%, crude ash 7.5%

On the two feeding columns. Arden Grange give separate daily amounts for "weight maintenance" and "weight loss" on this recipe, which matters because a senior dog's ideal weight often needs actively managing down rather than just maintaining — check your dog's body condition against a vet's assessment before picking which column to follow.

Who it's for: a senior dog whose joints need more support than a standard adult diet gives, particularly one whose weight also needs watching as their activity level drops.
