Vitakraft reviews: what the range actually is
We don't run a star-rating or review system on individual products, so rather than manufacture ratings that don't exist, here's the straight answer: Vitakraft is a long-established German pet brand best known for cage bird and small animal treats and forage, and our range covers both sides of that — parrot, budgie and canary treats on one shelf, rabbit and small animal sticks and forage on the other.
What Vitakraft actually makes
The bird side of the range covers seed and fruit sticks, moulting and condition treats, and species-specific mixes for parrots, budgies, canaries and cockatiels — the kind of everyday treat and enrichment product that sits alongside a bird's main diet rather than replacing it.
The small animal side covers forage-style hay products, vitamin drops, and stick and cracker-style treats for rabbits and other small pets, plus a few general items like cat grass that cross over between species. It is a treats-and-extras range in both directions, not a complete-diet brand.
Many of the stick-style treats are designed to be clipped or wedged into a cage so the animal has to work at them a little, which adds a small amount of natural foraging behaviour to what would otherwise be a straightforward handout.
What we stock, and who it suits
We carry a selection across both the bird and small animal sides rather than the full Vitakraft catalogue — what's shown in the grid below is what we currently have in, and that changes as stock does.
It suits owners who already have a bird or small pet on a proper main diet and want a treat or forage option to add variety and enrichment, rather than anyone looking for a complete food. As with any treat, it should stay a minority part of the diet alongside the right staple food or hay for the species.
Matching the product to the species you actually have
Because the range spans both cage birds and small mammals, check the pack carefully before buying — a stick treat formulated for a budgie is not appropriate for a rabbit, and a rabbit-specific vitamin drop is not meant for a canary. Species-specific labelling on each product is there for a reason.
If you keep more than one type of pet, it's worth building a small routine around which treat goes to which animal rather than assuming anything in the range suits anything with fur or feathers.

Common questions
- Does Giddy Pets stock every Vitakraft product?
- No, we stock a selection from the wider range rather than everything Vitakraft makes. The grid on this page reflects what we currently have available, which can change as stock does.
- Are Vitakraft treats a complete food for birds or small animals?
- No, they are treats and forage products meant to sit alongside a proper main diet, not replace one. A bird or small pet should still be fed a suitable complete food or hay as the bulk of what they eat.
- Is Vitakraft a good brand?
- It's a well-established brand within the treat and forage side of the bird and small animal market, and the products we've stocked have sold consistently. Whether a specific treat suits your pet comes down to their species and preferences rather than the brand name alone.
