An Australian parakeet's wild diet includes plants that a generic seed mix doesn't account for, which is why a regional blend built around eucalyptus and native seed types is a more considered choice than a one-mix-fits-all bag.

This blend includes cereals, seeds (including softwood seeds at 0.9%), oyster grit at 3%, dried elderberries at 3%, dried kiwi at 0.4% and chopped eucalyptus leaves at 1%. A full trace element and vitamin panel is added per kilogram, including vitamin A, D3, selenium, iodine, zinc, manganese and copper. Vitakraft's feeding guide is one to two tablespoons per bird per day, and it's formulated for Australian parakeets specifically.
