A dog doesn't stop needing a decent recipe once it's past the "adult" label on a bag, which is the thinking behind a single recipe pitched at both adult and senior dogs rather than a separate, pricier senior-specific line.

Chicken makes up 38% of the recipe — 27% dried chicken, 10% freshly prepared chicken and 1% chicken gravy — alongside whole barley, potato, oats and whole peas. Vitalin add chicory root extract (0.3%) as a source of prebiotic FOS, citrus extracts (0.2%) which they say support dental health, and mannan-oligosaccharides (0.1%) as a prebiotic MOS.

• Chicken 38% (dried, fresh and gravy combined)
• Protein 27.0%, fat 12.0%, crude fibre 3.5%, crude ash 7.5%
• Chicory root extract 0.3%, as a prebiotic
• Citrus extracts 0.2%
• Suitable for adult dogs of every age, including seniors
• 2kg or 12kg sack

On the feeding table. Vitalin's guide runs from 25g up to 460g or more a day, split across toy, small, medium, large and giant breed sizes, fed twice daily with a recommended 5-10 day transition period from a previous food — worth checking the right row for your dog's actual size rather than the sack's total weight.

Who it's for: owners of an adult or senior dog of any size, wanting one recipe that covers both life stages rather than switching foods at a fixed age.
