A lawn burn patch is caused by the nitrogen in a dog's urine concentrating in one spot, which is why it tends to show up as neat circles rather than an even fading of the whole lawn. Changing what happens to that nitrogen before it hits the grass is the usual approach, rather than treating the grass itself.

VETIQ Green-um Lawn Burn Control tablets contain active ingredients formulated to control nitrogen waste products in a dog's urine, aimed at preventing the yellow spots that build up on a lawn over time. The formula includes the plant extract Yucca schidigera, which helps bind nitrogen in the urine, alongside B vitamins and amino acids. VETIQ note the product performs best alongside a protein-controlled diet.

• Targets nitrogen waste in a dog's urine to help prevent lawn burn
• Contains Yucca schidigera
• Also contains B vitamins and amino acids
• Works best alongside a protein-controlled diet, per the manufacturer
• 100 tablets per pack

One thing worth knowing. We have not been given a daily dose or a dog-size guide for these tablets. Check the pack for how many to give, and ask your vet before changing your dog's diet alongside it if you are not sure what a protein-controlled diet means for your dog.

Who it's for: owners tired of yellow patches appearing on the lawn who want to address the cause via the dog's urine, rather than treating or reseeding the grass itself.
