Half the struggle of drying a wet dog is that the towel keeps escaping. You get a grip on one corner, the dog shakes, and you are left holding a wet sheet while they roll across the carpet. This towel puts a pocket at each end so your hands go inside the fabric, and from there you can rub down properly with the towel moving where your hands move rather than sliding off.

The fabric is microfibre, which pulls water off a coat far quicker than a cotton bath towel and stays workable when it is already damp. That matters for the second half of the job, when a cotton towel has given up and is only spreading water about. The paw-print hand pockets also keep your own hands out of the wet, which makes the process quicker and less unpleasant, and a quicker rub-down is a calmer one for a pet who dislikes the whole business.

• Super-absorbent microfibre construction
• A hand pocket at each end with a paw-print design
• Hands stay inside the towel for a secure rub-down
• Works on cats as well as dogs
• Three colours: blue, yellow and grey
• Suits post-bath drying and wet walks alike

On sizing. It is a rub-down towel rather than a wrap, so it is not intended to be left on a pet to dry them passively.

Who it's for: Anyone drying a wriggly cat or dog who would rather not chase a falling towel round the bathroom floor.
