A growing puppy needs more protein and fat per meal than an adult dog doing the same job of just staying alive, which is the entire reason a puppy formula exists separately from an all-life-stages one.

This is James Wellbeloved's hypoallergenic puppy recipe, built on dried turkey protein at 24% and white and brown rice rather than wheat, and free from the beef, pork, soya, egg and dairy that most sensitivities trace back to. Naked oats, pea protein, whole linseed and a run of natural extracts — chicory, yucca, seaweed — round out the list, alongside fish oil for omega-3.
